“…a school that you and your child will love, and one where we will lead your child to great heights”
Sunmarke School is part of a family of schools owned by the Fortes Education who have two decades worth of experience of delivering high quality education for thousands of students. Located in Jumeirah Village Triangle, the school opened in September 2016 with a 3000 student capacity. It was originally built because Fortes felt that space at existing Regent International School was no longer fit for purpose. A brave move by the owners to develop an entirely new school rather than simply expand but it is certainly paying off and the school is making rapid progress since it opened.
Sunmarke’s ethos is very much to develop the whole child and emphasis is placed on holistic development as much as academic. The school really understands and values the importance of developing soft skills and a key to success in future careers.
As you would expect with a custom built, new school the facilities are excellent. For the athletic there is a semi Olympic sized swimming pool, athletics running track, multiple courts and pitches and 2 expansive multipurpose halls. For the creative there are fine art labs, professional dance and drama studios, 600 seat auditorium, 4 music labs and tv and radio studios. Academic facilities are also impressive with 9 world class science labs, 5 design technology labs and 4 state-of-the-art ICT labs.
The school has the broadest curriculum offering of any school in the UAE. Currently offering the National Curriculum for England, students can access iGCSEs, A Levels and a range of BTECs. Plus, the school will also become an IB World School offering the IBDP from September 2019. Because of this diverse offering the school is really able to respond to individual needs and offer and inclusive offering for all students.
Extra curricular activities are deemed as important as academic achievement at Sunmarke. There is a huge range of choice from Lego Club to Yoga to STEAM Coding to Comic Book Club. The school day has been extended to help accommodate the emphasis on ECAs with the day now running from 07:30 until 15:45. This might not suit every parent but it does pivot more toward the independent school model in the UK where ECAs are compulsory and built into the school day.
