Gabbitas are experts in working with students, helping them to identify the right undergraduate and postgraduate courses and then helping them secure places at the most prestigious universities. In this case study, we share how we helped Rachel and Luka places at their chosen universities.
University entry can be very competitive, especially to the UK’s leading institutions, and our team is highly experienced in guiding you every step of the way – whether you are applying through UCAS or have aspirations to study for a Masters.
We work with students throughout throughout the entire entry process: identifying the best course and universities, guiding them through the UCAS system and helping them perfect their personal statements.

Securing a place to study Law
When we first met Rachel, we came across a bright and ambitious 16-year-old who aspired to be a lawyer. She was studying at the Le Lycee Francais in Dubai and, due to her French heritage, was unfamiliar with the UK University system.
After attending one of Gabbitas’ HE seminars, her family identified that we could support Rachel through the confusion of the UK HE system and signed her up at the end of Year 11. By accessing our services in plenty of time, we were able to not only guide her to the right choice of university course but also help build up Rachel’s expertise.
That first summer we enrolled her in a prestigious Law Summer Camp in Oxford which she thoroughly enjoyed. We also managed to secure her a two-week internship at a leading international law firm here in the U.A.E. These opportunities meant that she could head into the application cycle confident she had strong experience and an impressive personal statement.
“We couldn’t have done it without your help and dedication. All of it was so new and challenging to us. Thank you for your professionalism”
Rachel initially came back from the summer camp inspired to study at Oxford. But after in-depth discussions with our HE experts, we identified that the courses at Warwick and York were a better fit.
At Warwick, Rachel was keen to take advantage of the joint honours route and at York, she liked the problem-based learning approach.
As Rachel was French, she was making an EU application to her chosen universities and need to be sure she would receive EU status. Gabbitas was able to advise the family on this process to ensure that they secured this.
Rachel applied to Warwick, York, Bristol, King’s College and Durham and Gabbitas was there to support her throughout the application, including thorough interview preparation sessions and advising on preparing for LNAT.
Rachel is now studying International Law and Finance at Warwick, her first choice, and is well on the way to achieve her goal of becoming a lawyer.
Securing an Economics place
Luka, a straight A student, first met us at an HE seminar we ran in his school. Our expertise and in-depth knowledge of the UK university system impressed both him and his Serbian family.
The family wanted to investigate both UK and European universities. He was aiming high, with aspirations to study at one of the leading universities for Economics and Business.
We supported him through his application to Bocconi University in Milan and he was delighted when he received an offer. With that in the bag, he could now focus his energy on deciding his UK choices.
We worked with Luka to evaluate the different programmes offered at various universities and together we drew up a short list for the family to visit in the summer. Our comprehensive itinerary incorporated Open Days and personal visits the length of the country, starting out in Edinburgh and finishing in Bristol. The family were delighted that we were able to take the stress out of organising the trip and make it easier for Luka to make his choices.
“Thank you very much for the extraordinary support and professional services you’ve been providing us with”
Once Luka’s shortlist was finalised, we supported him with his personal statement including incorporating his interests in topical issues such as block chain and bitcoin. We certainly learnt a lot during this process too!
Luka is currently holding offers from two of his top choices Warwick Business School and UCL and will make his final decision before starting in September 2018.
